Add your own reference recordings and backing tracks
Happy New Year!
I hope that this Better Shed update finds you well, whether you had a late-night gig, or are thinking about your musical goals for 2026, or are doing absolutely nothing of the sort.
I'm happy to announce that you can now add your own video and audio files to use as reference recordings and backing tracks in Better Shed. Previously all learning resources needed to be YouTube videos. And just like your saved YouTube recordings, you are able to loop and slow down these uploaded ones.

This is a feature that I have wanted for my own musical practice. I often make recordings of my private lesson teacher when we get together, and wanted to be able to add these recordings to my Better Shed account to practice along with.

To add your own recordings, just click the "Uploaded source" button in the "Learning resources" modal for any piece in your repertoire.
I hope that you find some good uses for this feature. Thanks again to everyone trying out Better Shed. I'd love to hear your feedback, no matter how big or small, positive or critical!
Note: Uploaded videos currently go through an optimization process to reduce bandwidth. I may tinker with that setting in the future. Uploaded audio files on the other hand are not changed at all.
