Better Shed is a website for musicians to turn your practice routine into something that helps you to make real, daily progress on developing your musical identity.

It does this by making it easy for you to record yourself, and by helping you to build and maintain a musical repertoire of songs, licks and concepts.

You'll harness all the good things about learning music in 2024 — that helpful YouTube video lesson, the audio slow-downer — but those resources will be will be constrained to work for you, and not to distract you.

And you'll be inspired by yourself(!) as you watch the progress of your daily recordings and reflect on them to guide your next practice session.

Better Shed is a practice system that I've been using myself for years. I am very glad to finally have a non-prototype version of the site up and running to share with you, my talented musical friends.

🐛 There are bugs. I am fixing them as fast as my toddler will allow.

There are also features I cannot wait to add. When you find something that doesn't seem right, or you've got an idea about what would make the site better, please tell me!

I'll contact you personally with your login credentials. At the top of this blog post you'll find a walk-through video of the basic features of the site.
